Prepare Your Home for an Inspection
At AccuSpec our objective is to
provide a high quality inspection and objectively communicate it
to our client. As the seller, you can help facilitate this effort
by doing the following:
- Make sure all utilities are on and all pilot lights are lit.
A complete inspection requires that all major appliances and
equipment be inspected using normal operating controls. Utilities
that are not on usually result in a return trip to the house.
- Make sure access to the entire
property is available. While an inspection is not intrusive, we
want to see everything. That means the attic, crawlspaces, and all
points between. At the point an inspection is needed, you have
usually started packing. Try to keep all boxes away from the walls
so these areas can be observed. If you have a day sleeper or small
children taking naps, make sure our scheduling coordinators know
this so we can accommodate your needs.
- Our inspectors are great to work
with, but some animals might not think so. If you have a pet that
can get a little nervous or agitated, please help us and put them
away for a couple of hours.
- Take the time to share any
information you think might be helpful to our inspector. A home
inspection is not just about finding fault with a house, it’s
about providing information. Tell us the good stuff too!
